Since our shops often do not have a safety monitor, access to any given shop is predicated on your ability to demonstrate your prior knowledge and ability to use a given space safely. If you are just starting out or need some refreshers, we encourage you to sign up for our classes before becoming a member.

Membership Dues + Shop Fees
Membership dues help fund Wonder Institute and keep our spaces operational.
Additionally, each shop will have fees for your shop time, equipment certifications, and use of consumables.
We are able to keep our monthly membership dues low because of our pay-as-you go shop fee system to support each of the shops. There is also cost for certifications to grant access to some tools and shops (one-time fees), and consumables available in the shop like sandpaper, abrasives, etc.

Membership Dues:
Membership dues are set on monthly autopay or yearly fee. This goes to Wonder Institute general expenses. (rent, electricity, etc.) Cancel at any time.
Certifications:
Certifications are classes or equipment checkoffs that teach proper use and safety features of the shops and specific tools. They are required to earn independent use. These funds go to the shops for maintenance and instructors.

Consumables:
Any materials we have on hand for purchase. Generally members need to bring their own materials but things like sandpaper, abrasives, etc. are available in each shop.
Wonderlab Membership steps:
Step 1: WonderLabs Safety Orientation
Watch the general and shop specific safety orientation videos and take the respective quizzes. Learn about the Wonderlabs @ Deer Dr. as well as our rules, safety procedures and community expectations.
Step 2: Purchase a Membership
We offer monthly and yearly memberships, personal and commercial, as well as a 5-punch pass
Step 3: Sign our waiver
All users of the WonderLabs must sign a waiver to gain access.
Step 4: Get access to the WonderLabs
Sign up for a time to come see the WonderLabs at Deer Dr. and get an access card.
Step 5: Sign up for tool certifications
Each shop requires a general introduction as well as additional training to clear you for access. You are not required to be certified on every tool in a shop to gain access but you must be checked off on a given tool in order to use it.
Step 6: Enjoy the WonderLabs!
