Quilted Table Runner

Prerequisite: Potholder Class, Intro to Machine Sewing Class, or equivalent experience.

Beginner Friendly: Students should be comfortable using a sewing machine, including sewing straight seams, winding bobbins, changing needles, and adjusting thread tension. This class is ideal for those who have basic sewing experience and want to learn how to start quilting.

Class Description:

In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll create a beautiful quilted table runner using a Charm Pack - a collection of coordinated 5" fabric squares that makes choosing fabrics easy and fun. This is a great project for anyone who wants to try quilting without committing to a full-size quilt.

• During this 4-hour class, you’ll learn how to arrange your fabrics, sew the squares together, press seams properly, and turn the pieces into a finished table runner top. The instructor will also demonstrate how to layer the quilt top with batting and backing and quilt simple straight lines using a home sewing machine. By the end of the class, you’ll have a lovely handmade table runner that’s perfect for your table or as a gift, along with the basic quilting skills and confidence to start your next project.

Materials

• 1 Charm Pack:  We recommend you purchase your own pack so that you choose exactly the colors and patterns that you want to use. A limited number of charm packs will be available for sale on the day of the class.

  • 1 yard of coordinating fabric of your choice for backing and binding. A yard of fabric (36in x 45in) that is solid or patterned from: https://www.missouriquiltco.com/pages/fabric-by-the-yard will work well. You're also welcome bring any non-stretch fabric that you have.

• Must be 18+ (14+ allowed if accompanied by parent or guardian)

• 2 students are required for this class to meet.
