Intro to Laser Cutter / Engraver

Class Description:

Come and learn how to cut with light!

With our laser cutter/engraver you can both cut intricate shapes as well as engrave personalized messages on wood, leather, acrylic, glass, aluminum, etc. Come with 2 or 3 files of images that you want to engrave (or we'll find some online). The laser cutter software will accept file formats SVG, DXF, PDF, PLT, PNG, JPG, and BMP. If you have something flat that you'd like to personalize, bring that too.

Beginner Friendly

• Must be 18+ (14+ allowed if accompanied by parent or guardian)

• 2 students are required for class to meet.

Instructor: David Robertson

Bio: I grew up doing woodwork with my father and brother and have built cabinets, furniture, toys, etc, etc. The focus of my making is currently on various forms of clocks and sundials for which I’m using many of the Wonder Institute tools and equipment. I'd love to share some of the things that I have learned and help you with your own making. I'm also a keen gardener and when I'm not making stuff, I like to do the Jackson things - hike, bike, ski, dog stuff & kid stuff.
