About the Event
Prerequisite: Quilting 101-Potholder, and experience sewing with a consistent 1/4in seam allowance.
Class Description:
In this fun two-part class, students will learn how to create a quilt using a Jelly Roll precut. Jelly Rolls are made up of 2.5" fabric strips from a coordinated collection and are a fantastic time-saving shortcut to quilt making.
Session 1 (4 hours) focuses on layout, piecing, and efficient techniques for working with pre-cut strips. You’ll receive step-by-step guidance throughout the process, sewing the strips together into a fun quilt top. You’ll leave Session 1 with the confidence to complete your quilt top either at home or during open hours in the sewing lab.
Between sessions, the instructor will quilt the three layers (quilt top, batting, and backing) for you, so you can focus on learning and finishing rather than struggling with quilting at home. Instructor will need at least 72 hours to complete this step between sessions.
Session 2 (2 hours) is all about finishing. With the quilting already done, this session will focus on essential finishing techniques such as trimming, binding, and final details to bring your quilt to completion.
